After wondering what percentage of penguins are gay, I stumbled upon this adorable article called "We're here we're queer, we're penguins" by Suzy Hansen for Salon a few years ago.

Of course I saw March of the Penguins in the theatre soon after it opened. Of course I was shocked to find myself at anything rated "G" but was relieved to see that implied sex scenes were included.

These involved little more than penguins stretching their heads high, maybe hugging it out with flippers, and bowing their heads down. A toddler with the family behind us tuned in that something was up. The swelling violins and zoomed-in penguin heads bowing down led her to ask, "Why are they saaad? Why are they *so* saaaad?"
